In everything we do in life we look to progress, to perfect ourselves a little bit more. Whether it’s education, sports, family life or our professional careers we look to better ourselves. I am no different in my pursuit of perfecting my illustration style. When I first started I mimicked illustrators whose work I enjoyed and worked to learn the tools necessary to better myself. As I went on I not only found that my skills improved greatly but that I found a style that I enjoyed working in. To illustrate this point (not actually sure if that pun was intentional or not) I am posting one of the first illustrations that I ever did along with a more recent illustration. Coincidentally, both are illustrations of the Suns Amare Stoudemire who has progressed in his own career and has earned the right to play in this year’s All-Star game as a Western Conference starter. So here’s to progress and the never-ending pursuit of perfection.
